The Ventura County Chapter of SCORE, a non-profit (501C) organization was founded in 1971 as Chapter 255, after the Santa Barbara/Ventura Chapter was split and re-chartered as separate chapters. We have been an active chapter since that time and currently have more than 38 volunteers. The counselors of SCORE Ventura County are active and retired successful business owners and managers. Our counselors volunteer their experience and knowledge to help established business owners and potential business owners achieve success.

Ventura County Chapter 255 was selected as the "Outstanding Chapter" in the Los Angeles District for 2002.

Client service is the objective of SCORE Ventura County. Our volunteer business counselors are dedicated to providing the best possible services via face-to-face counseling, business mentoring or online Email counseling, all at no charge to the client. The counselors of SCORE Ventura County are capable and willing to aid in the success of all small businesses throughout the County and Malibu. We counsel face to face at most Chamber of Commerce's by appointment. Many counselors go on-site to help businesses as well.

SCORE Ventura County's list of business success stories include Kinko's, a data management/copy company that grew from two entrepreneurs to more than 40,000 employees worldwide and is now owned by FED-EX. Another success story is "Heads above the Rest", a tall women's fashion company that was selected as women owned business of the year in 1996.

We have numerous other success stories from the 1,000 clients we counsel each year and the hundreds we help through our on-going workshop Entrepreneur Series held in the spring, summer and fall.
